We accept online submissions on a rolling basis throughout the year. To submit, please read the information below and submit online. There is currently no fee to submit to the Burlesque Press online journal, the Burlesque Variety Show. We do not currently accept submissions via mail.
All submissions should include a brief cover letter that includes contact information (name, address, phone number, email, and genre of work).
All submissions must be previously unpublished. By submitting, you agree to give Burlesque Press the right to publish your piece online.
Send only original work. If your work quotes or borrows from other work, that source should receive credit. If we suspect work to be plagiarized, we will assume good faith, but we’ll still investigate and contact the appropriate authorities.
Fiction:
Manuscripts should be typed and double-spaced. Please use 1″ margins and include page numbers. Manuscripts should be no more than 10-15 pages.
Creative Nonfiction:
Manuscripts should be typed and double-spaced. Please use 1″ margins and include page numbers. Manuscripts should be no more than about 10-15 pages.
Flash Fiction or Creative Nonfiction:
Up to three flash pieces can be packaged as one submission. Apart from that, the same guidelines apply as for regular submissions in those respective genres.
Poetry:
A maximum of 5 poems may be submitted. Poems must be typed.
Pop Culture/Blog: Manuscripts should be tyed and double spaced. We like these posts to be 500-1000 words, but may consider longer by proposal. To propose a longer piece, contact burlesquepressllc@gmail.com.
Restaurant Reviews/Recipes: Manuscripts should be typed and double spaced. We are interested in restaurant reviews, original recipes, and recipe reviews, however, we do not currently provide any funding for meals or ingredients.
Book Reviews: Please send us a query at http://www.burlesquepressllc.com if there’s a book review you would like to publish with us, or if you’re interested in being one of our regular reviewers please also email us and let us know.
