And So I Kissed You by Neil Ellman

(after the print by Louise Bourgeois
in collaboration with Tracey Elim)

And so I kissed you
just that once
my tongue explored
the silence of your want
to know the meaning
of unspoken words
you dared not speak
or think I felt
the softness of your lips
the hardness of your soul
that moment knew
that you and I
were never meant
to be apart
or be as one
we felt the instance
knew the distance
of our kiss.
