The Krakow Cure for Writer’s Block by Jeni Stewart

This summer, travel with Burlesque Press across the world and back in time.

Join celebrated authors Moira Crone and Shelley Puhak for an invigorating and inspiring writing retreat in Krakow, one of Europe’s last surviving medieval cities.

For ten days in July, the retreat director, Jeni Stewart, will work with you to create a writing plan to help you make the most of your time away. Moira and Shelley, as writers in residence, will teach classes in storytelling, fantastical world building, and the weaving of dreams and superstitions into your poems and prose.

We will also explore Krakow’s beautiful city center and hear accounts of its fascinating, tragic history. It is a city haunted by legends of vampires and witches, as well as the horrors of the Holocaust and war. You’ll also have plenty of time on your own to write, explore, and imagine.

All of our workshops are optional, so you are free to design your own course of study. The focus is on you, and the small group setting makes for a relaxed, yet intense writing experience abroad.

The mix of modern and medieval, cosmopolitan and provincial, as well as the friendly, largely English-speaking population, should give you all the energy you need to start something new or finish something in progress.

I’m looking forward to being inspired. For more information, visit our “Krakow” page, here. Remember – there is no writer’s block abroad!
