FROM APHRODITE TO A COWARDLY SUITOR WHO WANTED TO FEEL, NOT DO by Tawni Waters

Trembling one, what is this love you speak of?

Do you not know love is
the closest verbal approximation
limited mortal minds can find
for the power that exploded
the universe into existence?
Love equals the Big Bang.
Love acts.
Love creates worlds from nothing.
Love is nuclear fission.

Did you not watch the footage of Hiroshima,
nuclear power gone wrong?
Do not split the atom until you can contain it.
Do not speak the word love until you are ready to do.

The word you are looking for, stuttering fool,
is sentiment.
Sentiment
is for cowards
like you.

Love is for warriors.
Do not dare
take my name in vain.
Do not pick up the sword
until you are ready to wield it,

or it will fell you where you stand.
